Aishling Burke
Aishling Burke (MCSP, HCPC, POGP(affiliate).
Aishling graduated from Northumbria University in 2007 with a BSc in Physiotherapy.
Her career started in Kent, working within the community trust before applying for a position in the Urogynae Team based within the east of the county. This position was the introduction into ‘women’s health’ and the division of physiotherapy that Aishling is still as passionate about today.
Treating initially women with bladder and bowel leakage, Aishling has gone on to study the treatment and management of conditions related to pelvic floor dysfunction: incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain and pelvic trauma (secondary to birth trauma/ gynaecological surgery). Now, she treats men and is a Mummy MOT Therapist and Scar Therapist too.
After a colleague was diagnosed with breast cancer and with no physiotherapy offered post op, Aishling did a little research and uncovered strong evidence to support the role of physio during and after breast cancer treatment.
Completing the PINC and Steel Cancer Certification training during Covid in 2020 provided Aishling with additional tools to help individuals recover quickly, regain function and live for-filling lives.
Today, Aishling is based within The Tonbridge Clinic 2 days a week while she works as the Women’s Health Lead at a private hospital in Kent. Often asked to host talks and workshops on women’s health, Aishling is passionate about increasing awareness of pelvic health, the importance rehab plays in cancer care and the role of the individual in their own health and well-being.
She loves tea and a chat, being near the coast and her family (in no particular order!).
