Awareness Events

For Healthcare Professionals

As a group, we are passionate about increasing the awareness of family history and the importance of BRCA testing, and we wish to reach out to as many healthcare professionals in our community as possible.

We have attended various awareness and healthcare events organised by KIMS Hospital, Maidstone, targeted at GPs and nurses. At these meetings, speakers have been invited to talk about their fields of expertise, from consultants discussing HRT options to breast and gynae-oncological choices for their patients. Patients have also had the opportunity to share their experiences with the audience.

KIMS Hospital runs regular events, so if you are interested in finding out about any future meetings, please contact the hospital directly (link button below).

“Macmillan are proud to continue to support BRCA Kent. The group provide peer support for people who are at various stages of their BRCA journey. Peer support is an invaluable resource for all people living with or effected by cancer – the BRCA group not only provide a safe and informal setting for those effected to understand and raise awareness of the BRCA gene fault, but to also invite professionals to speak with the members about clinical matters.  We are thankful to Elizabeth and all the group leaders for continuing the relationship with Macmillan – a relationship we will continue to foster and nurture.”
